May 2008. The front crank axle is gear driven, but has no wheels. The middle and rear axles only have wheels, so the whole thing is slightly trunk heavy. The towbar under the motor is pivoted above the rear axle so that there is a degree of weight transfer towards the rear axle when pulling hard.
Guess what? The silly thing won the competition. While it did moderately well in the distance run, it was the only competitor to pull the wagon more than 50 mm, achieving a run of 930 mm before the wagon got stuck on a track joint (and Trackyderm carried on wheel-slipping away).
Anyone need their circus train shunted?
