The model is about 1.8m long, is built to 1:12 scale, and weighs enough to require 2 people to manoeuvre it, although 1 can just manage when it is on its transport plank. We spent 5 years building it, although a lot of that time was spent staring at the plans thinking "how on earth are we going to build this thing?" The prototype is a Unimat 4S belonging to Queensland Rail, but we have customised it with a few European touches such as the buffers and a different profile to the bogie frames. We were going to add the articulated brooming trailer, but there had to be a limit on the length for display and transport purposes......it only just fits diagonally across the back of the car as it is, and that is with the passenger's seat forward somewhat!
